3 Way to Create a Self Care Oasis with a Full House
Well, don't know about you guys, but we have definitely been thrown for a loop over here on how we can maintain some sanity while also going through this trying time. We are taking care of our families in close quarters and it can definitely add some palpable stress to our lives. We want to help you reduce that stress in some of the simplest ways that we can, from our own lived experiences! We have a few things we are doing immediately to create a little oasis in our own homes and we hope this will help you spark some ideas on what you can do in yours!
We're connecting with friends and family
Happy Hour with Friends! We all know that while we're at home, we're relying on virtual meetings to connect us with coworkers and family alike... but that doesn't mean they have to be boring. You can create a fun background, place family pictures in eyeline, set up art work behind your computer that can be a background for calls... you know, stuff that keeps it interesting! If you're missing your friends, set up a cocktail hour. Make a drink and organize a happy hour with your best friends. Seriously, we have done this with our friends and family and it truly does create so much happiness. Connecting with people we love the most is going to be so important to get us through this tough time!
We are taking that bath!
Tubby Time isn’t just for kids, you guys. After the kids go to bed, clear the tub of all the toys and the kids' washclothes, grab your favorite Bath Salts, grab a book (we have a great list of recommendations on The Salty LifeStyle Facebook group), and play your favorite relaxing playlist. Set up your own little spa with what you have. It's easier than you think! Take this time to relax your body and breath….enjoy the music or take some time to soak in the silence because that's really what is going to recharge your battery.
We are starting our gardens!
Spring weather is coming before we know it. Now is a great time to start clearing out our gardens and prepping for spring flowers. We grabbed seeds from our local farm's seed library, stocked up on pods and starter kits and had our kids help with the garden prep indoors. When you need some time to yourself, get to work outside for when those seedlings need to get in the ground. Grab your phone, plug in your ear buds and put on your favorite playlist (the Spotify Salty Life Style Music Mix is collaborative so add your fave songs to our list!) to rock out in the garden while getting fresh air.
How are you creating an oasis at home where you can recharge and create calm?
