A Letter from Leah and Sarah on COVID19
Sarah and Leah here, sending a little note from Maine to just give you a little love and kindness during some really trying times. With the increased awareness and precautions being taken around COVID-19, we want everyone to know that in order to get through this, we have to support one another and show some kindness.
Last week, we had a conference cancelled due to concerns over the Coronavirus and the immunocompromised community in attendance. We were really bummed that something we had planned for months, didn’t come to fruition but we understood the importance. We have since had another big event postponed, and yes, again, it’s been disappointing but we understand the importance. As a cancer survivor and a nurse, we are acutely aware of the concerns that our SaltyGirl community might have as we see events, conferences, concerts and schools being postponed/cancelled to allow for the slow of the spreading of this virus. But to us, this is encouraging. People in decision making positions are considering the greater good and we are very optimistic about that.
Here’s the thing we want you to know. We’re all in this together. We know there’s a lot of worry and fear happening right now. You’re not alone. In order to get through tough times, we have to support one another. Whether we’re donating to local food pantries, calling Grandma to check in, lending an ear to someone who might need a chat, kindness is always something that drives our actions. We can activate in our communities, address issues that might arise, find ways to help in small ways that matter.
We have nothing but love for you all and we want you to know that we’re here for you too! DM us on social, shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, join us in our Facebook group. Let us be a support in your life, whether you need a laugh or a cry. Every little bit counts! And if you have questions or concerns about the virus itself? We suggest keeping yourself informed through reputable sites like WHO.int or CDC.gov. We'll get through this together.
All the best to your and yours,
