"One friend with whom you have a lot in common is better than three with whom you struggle to find things to talk about.” - Mindy Kaling
As women and mothers, we know how important it is to have a strong support system and build that “village” that everyone talks about. As we continue to explore our new mantra "less is more", it's important to us that we look at different areas of our lives. Our relationships are no exception.
When it comes to friends, it's not about quantity, it's about quality. We can be surrounded by all the people but if we aren't connecting on a deeper level, then it's just not as fulfilling as we need at this stage of life.
When it comes to the people we surround ourselves with, we want kind, compassionate, caring and like minded individuals who just "get us"... you know? The team at SaltyGirl Beauty has some things to keep in mind when you're looking to build that tribe of badass women that keep you grounded and motivated. They aren't one size fits all but it's a good start.
If you know us, you know that we are a passionate pair! After everything that we have been through as a family, it's passion and determination that have seen us through some tough times. We love what we do and we love women who seek out this passion and appreciate that.
Be Kind and Caring
This may seem like a given, but dude, it's important. Kindness, compassion and the ability to care about one another is a must when cultivating a deep and meaningful relationship, especially with other women. We've been conditioned that somehow female friendships are competitive and catty... but they don't have to be that way... at least not for us!
Are we asking you to buy all of our products? No, that's not what we mean by being supportive (though we do hope you'll give our stuff a try!). We want our friends to support our ideas, our initiatives and maybe even support us after we've made a mistake... like offer us a glass of wine, please! A strong support system is a must for any entrepreneur but also for a woman who is trying her best to be a great human, mother, employee, artist, creator... whatever it is that defines who we think we are.
This is our non- negotiable. We are not here for the fakery. Seriously. If this life has taught us anything, it's that the meaningful, real relationships are built on truly knowing, loving and respecting one another. We want to be able to be real with you and would expect the same in return. Life is messy and fun and scary and hard and so full of awesomeness- we want to experience it and be able to share a piece of ourselves with our tribe. It's what life is all about, the human relationships. Wouldn't you agree?
