Easy Ways to Refresh your Spring+Summer Makeup Routine
Warmer weather is upon us and we couldn’t be happier! But when we look in the mirror, we see the same look or at least it seems like it. If you’re tired of the winter look, or if you've been leaning into the pandemic and there's been a "no look" look, it’s time to refresh your warmer weather makeup routine. It doesn’t require a complete overhaul – just a few simple salty changes.
Deep Clean your Makeup Brushes
If you’ll lighten up your shades for the warmer months, clean your makeup brushes first. Hopefully you clean them weekly or at least every couple of weeks, but between seasons, deep clean your brushes.
Whether you use a makeup brush cleanser, a gentle shampoo, or your facial cleanser, put a few drops in a cup with warm water. Swish your brushes around the water and give them a little massage. Run them under water until the water runs clear and lay them flat to dry.
Organize and Dispose of Old Makeup
Makeup expires every 2 years, but some expire in as little as 3 months, especially eyeshadow. Do your research and use your eyes. If something doesn’t seem ‘right’ toss it or if you know you’ve had it for longer than 2 years, let it go.
Try New Makeup Products
The warmer months a great time to experiment with new makeup products. We love the theory of bringing in one new item to replace an old one. When you organize your makeup for a new makeup routine, choose what you’ll replace and what you’ll just set aside.
Here are a few of our favorite new products to add.
Try a New Eyeshadow Palette
Spring and summer are great times to try lighter shades, even pastels. Ditch the warm, deep winter colors and try fun shades. If you naturally tan in the summer, whites and pastel shades will naturally highlight your beautiful glow.
Find a New Lipstick Shade
Lipstick is another fun makeup to ‘play with’ in the summer months. Try a new shade, whether lighter or brighter to highlight your beautiful summer glow. Don’t forget to take care of those lips though, exfoliating, and protecting them as they’re prone to sun damage as much as the rest of your skin.
Try Tinted Moisturizer
We love to go from heavy foundations in the colder months to light, tinted moisturizer with SPF in the summer months. No one likes to feel heavy or bogged down in the summer, so lighten it up. You probably don’t need as much help with color in the summer, but just need something to even out your skin tone.
Refresh your Makeup Routine this Summer
Don’t use your old, boring makeup routine this summer. Shake things up with new products, new techniques, and new colors.
You’ll love how you feel and it gives you something to look forward to as the summer months slowly get closer. Playing with colors is a great way to change up your look – have some fun and let yourself be carefree this spring and summer – you deserve it!
