Exercise not only changes your body. It changes your mind, your attitude and your mood.
Sarah and Leah are both physiclly active and something they're working out together. They frequent Quest Fitness in Kennebunk, ME, hitting up spin classes, visits with personal trainers and also some weight training. Getting fit and making time for movement is something that the SaltyGirls have made sure to prioritize even when the craziness of life can seem to get in the way. Let's check what the ladies' fitness goals are this year. We'd love to hear about yours too!
I'm really turning up the dial this year and trying to get into tip top shape before having another baby. Also, I want to BE IN SHAPE! My two big races this year are a half marathon late spring and then my bucket list item, the 70.3 Ironman in Old Orchard Beach. I've never been SO EXCITED for this and honestly I've completed 3 marathons,10 Half marathons and 1 olympic triathlon. But, I never thought I would EVER participate in a Half Ironman!
All in all, I think the big take away from is this fitness push this year is all about CHALLENGING myself!. When I challenge myself, I feel the best about myself. I like feeling the burrrrrn (maybe not when I'm not sitting down on the toilet the next day), but I truly love pushing myself. When I grab my running shoes in the morning and see Lucy running around saying "Mama, GO GO GO GO!" It makes me a happy lady. I want Lucy to see me as a strong, motivated Mommy! I also see all this training as self love for myself...this is how I pamper myself in a weird, unconventional way!
So for me my workout goals are to get STRONG again!
The last time I felt like I really belonged in my body was my pregnancy with Graham. I still had my GOAL body, minus the pregnancy lol. 7 months after Graham I got pregnant with Anna ----and well, during that pregnancy, I got cancer. Then I had Caleb and well, as with a lot of moms post pregnancy, I have struggled getting back in shape since then. With no more babies and celebrating 5 years since my cancer diagnosis, my goal in 2020 is to reclaim my body by just getting strong again! Since January I have been going to Edge Classes at Quest 3-4 times a week. I don't have big aspirations of races at this time----just want to focus on being strong and healthy... and that's a great goal. Strength is a super power!
