Our 2020 Year in Review
As we look back at 2020, we could not have anticipated the year that we have collectively had. In some ways, this year was the hardest and most challenging for us and our business but in a lot of other ways, we found a way to shine through some unexpected, unprecedented times in our world. Even though 2020 did not go as we had initially planned, we have some really great things that we've accomplished this year so we thought we'd review just to see how far we've come and what we're proud of.
We had a lot of in person events planned this year but when March rolled around, it became apparent that we weren't going to be seeing our community in person like we had in years prior. This meant we had to pivot to create new opportunities for SaltyGirl Beauty and our business. We did it on the fly but we still worked on created the meaningful community that we are so proud of building with you all.
We launched new shades and colors this year! We expanded our foundation and concealer line to be more inclusive of different skin tones. We launched this Fall and are already so pleased with the feedback we've been receiving! In addition to the face, we also added two new lipstick shades, Maida and Rachael. We released in November and saw them immediately fly off the shelves! New this year were our Subscription Boxes and we're also exicted to see this program grow into 2021 as well!
Our 2nd Lip Gloss Heroes campaign brought us 5 new lip gloss shades but more importantly introduced us to 5 new badass women in our community. We welcomed Quiana, Prasha, Kyle, Jamie and Nancy to the SaltyGirl Beauty family. We pride ourselves in partnering with badass women and highlighting them whenever we are able. Lip Gloss Heroes has given us the opportunity to the latter, and we get to play with new shades to boot!
This year Sarah celebrated 5 years cancer free! You can read all about this journey on our blog but suffice to say that we are all so grateful that Sarah continues to be healthy and full of life, even in a year like 2020. To celebrate Sarah's cancerversary and to support Foundation4Love, we held our first Foundation4Love 5K and we pulled it off virtually! Our goal was to raise $5000 and our community came together to run, walk, and roll right past that goal! The #Run4LoveofHair was so fun and such a great way to end our Summer! In addition to the virtual 5k, we had to shift gears this year and cancel our annual Foundation4Love gala. Instead of sulking, we made a quick pivot and were able to put together our Local 10K Campaign to support local business and our Maine cancer community. Even when we were thrown off our game, we found a way to bounce back! Now, we are proud to be entering into an amazing partnership with New England Cancer Centers where Foundation4Love will provide pivotal assistance to their life changing programs here in Maine!
In 2020, we were featured on GMA Steals and Deals! We're still so giddy over this... You can read about our journey to GMA on our blog and that journey led us to a SaltyGirl Beauty segment on GMA's 3rd hour, where we were able to share our story not just our products! As if those two appearances weren't exciting enough, we were featured on a siblings episode of The Tamron Hall Show, which was incredible in terms of sharing our story, our message and what we love about SaltyGirl Beauty. You can view the full segment on YouTube. We never thought we'd be TV stars in 2020 but one thing is for sure, this entire year has been unexpected!
We are growing and it's absolutely amazing to have you here along for the ride. We just moved into a larger space with more room for production and our business. We are setting goals and smashing them and we have you to thank for it. Without our community, we wouldn't be where we are today... and we hope that you'll join us in saying goodbye to 2020 and bringing 2021 on with bells ringing!
Here's to appreciating 2020 in the ways that we can and welcoming in a new year with hope and optimism for a better year for all of us!
