Try Our at Home Pedicure
We know that right now, it might not be on the tippy top of your list to head to the nail salon or maybe you just don't have the time! We've been doing some really cool (and pretty darn easy) at home pedicures. Do it yourself pedicures remind us of when we used to paint eachother's nails when we were kids only now, we're a little bit better with polish application! We had everything we needed at home to pamper our feet while keeping our social distance from our children on a rainy Sunday night. Here's what we did and let us know if you set up your own spa at home!
What you'll need:
- Large Bowl or Bin (for your foot soak)
- Bath Bomb, Bath Salts, or Epsom Salt
- Salt and Sugar Scrub or an Exfoliant
- Base Coat, Top Coat, and Polish Color of Choice (we're loving Emma Beauty LA and Triple O Polish)
- Paper Towels
- Towel to go under your foot soak and dry off
We basically followed the routine we would do at our normal nail salon but tried to make it work at home. We'll just say this, we're a little messier than the salon but we're also working with what we've got! The other night Leah featured our bath bombs in our instagram stories. She did an impromptu foot soak and it inspired us to take it up a notch and take care of our feet 100%. (Our bath bombs are currently available in our Subscription Boxes but watch out in early Fall 2020 to purchase these on their own).
We start our at home pedi with a comfortably hot bowl of water. You'll want to drop your bath bomb or salts in the water to give it a chance to dissolve before letting your feet soak. We are listening to some great podcasts but you can let your feet soak while watching an episode of your favorite show or simply sitting in silence, which sounds nice doesn't it? We soaked for about 15 minutes before scrubbing our feet with the SaltyGirl Beauty Salt + Sugar Scrub. This leaves the feet nice and soft after a good rinse.
We don't like to get the disposable toe separating thingies at home so we use paper towel to create the space between toes, if this is something you feel like you need. If you feel like winging it? Know that we respect this! For the longest lasting pedicure, we use a base coat, two coats of polish and a top coat. We swear by the EMMA Beauty LA Quickie Top Coat, which cuts drying time way down!
We are always glad we took some time to ourselves. Even if it's not the same thing as a trip to the nail salon, it's still selfcare and it's also saving money too! Our team will be doing at home mani-pedis for the foreseeable future and would love to know what you're doing at home now that we're here more often.
